Karl has more than 20 years of experience successfully representing individuals, businesses and community associations regarding a variety of employment, real estate and business matters. Karl has successfully represented clients in all stages of litigation, from pre-lawsuit investigation through trial and appeals, including prevailing multiple times before the Court of Appeals and Minnesota Supreme Court.
Karl has also advised both employees and employers regarding a variety of employment law issues, including non-compete agreements, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour issues, bonus and commission disputes, whistleblowing claims, employment contracts, fiduciary duties and trade secrets.

Karl is licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts in Minnesota, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States Courts of Appeal for the 6th, 8th and 11th Circuits. Karl received his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law, graduating with highest honors. He obtained his bachelors degree in business administration from the University of Iowa, majoring in finance and graduating with honors.
Following law school, Karl served as a judicial law clerk to The Honorable David Harris, Justice of the Iowa Supreme Court, and then as a judicial law clerk for The Honorable David Hansen, Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Karl has also taught legal writing and appellate advocacy as an adjunct professor at William Mitchell College of Law.
