Jennifer is the founder and owner of Toohey Law Firm, P.A.  Jennifer concentrates her practice in the following areas: Real Estate Law, Community Association Law, Collections and Creditors Remedies Law, and Business Law.

Jennifer has a wealth of knowledge and experience regarding all aspects of Real Estate Law.  Jennifer has represented developers, community associations, commercial landlords, tenants, municipalities, buyers, sellers, and financial institutions in a wide array of transactions, work-outs, foreclosures, and other litigation.

Jennifer brings a unique and practical perspective to these important real estate issues, having worked as a real estate negotiator at Target Corporation, as an attorney in private practice, and at multiple title insurance companies.

Jennifer has represented numerous community associations across the State of Minnesota in a variety of matters.  She brings considerable experience and insight to all of the legal issues faced by community associations, including entity formation, the creation, interpretation, and enforcement of governing documents (such as declarations, bylaws and rules and regulations), collection of dues and assessments, director responsibilities and fiduciary duties and day to day operational issues.

Jennifer works closely with her community association clients to find efficient, practical, and cost-effective solutions to these issues.

In the area of business law, Jennifer focuses on meeting the diverse transactional needs of clients who are launching a new business or expanding an existing business.  Jennifer works with her clients to understand their business goals and challenges so that she is able to provide sound legal advice to further the client’s path to success.

Through her experience in the corporate arena, Jennifer brings unique skills and perspective to all types of business negotiations.  From managing the real estate portfolio of a major national “big box” retailer to helping close multi-million dollar transactions, she is an aggressive negotiator who finds creative solutions for her clients.  Spending countless hours in county property records departments as a licensed abstractor, she learned the nuances of real estate from the ground up.

Licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts in Minnesota, Jennifer is a member of the Real Property Section of the Hennepin County and Minnesota State Bar Associations.  She is also active in Minnesota Commercial Real Estate Women, MN-CAI, and Minnesota Women Lawyers. Jennifer also serves as an adjunct professor at William Mitchell College of Law.

Jennifer obtained her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Psychology.
